Classes in primary schools across Bangladesh to begin at 10:00am

Dhaka, Jan 22: The primary and mass education ministry on Monday directed all government primary schools across Bangladesh to begin classes at 10:00am due to the ongoing cold wave.

The ministry said that the directive would be effective until January 31.

An office order, issued by the ministry on Monday, also said that the decision was taken considering the inconvenience of the students.

According to a regular bulletin of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday, a mild cold wave is sweeping 21 districts, including almost all the districts in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, and the mercury may dip further across the country.

The country’s lowest minimum temperature of 08.1 degrees Celsius was recorded at Dinajpur and Badalgachhi on Monday.

The lowest minimum temperature in Dhaka was recorded as 12.3 degrees Celsius on Monday morning and this was the lowest temperature in the capital in the ongoing winter season, according to BMD officials.
