Eight burnt as cylinder blast causes fire at Dhaka filling station

Dhaka, dec 06: At least eight people sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out from a gas cylinder blast at a filling station in Mohakhali area of Bangladesh capital Dhaka Wednesday night.

A gas cylinder in in the Royal Filling Station exploded at about 8:30pm, said police.

Two units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame in 15 minutes, said Fire Service deputy assistant director Shahjahan Sikder.

Tejgoan Industrial Area police station inspector (investigation) Dulal Hossain said that they primarily suspecting that it was an accident.

‘We have not found any evidence of sabotage primarily,’ said the police officer.

 

He said that the cylinder exploded in a room and then fire spread to the station’s office room quickly.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge inspector Bachchu Mia said that eight people were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with burn injuries.
