Govt won’t be allowed to hold stage-managed election anymore: BNP

Dhaka, Sep 19: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday urged the party activists to stay united as the Awami League government would not be allowed to hold another stage-managed general election.

‘People do not want to see Awami League in power anymore. This time people will resist them,’ the party standing committee member Mirza Abbas said while addressing a public rally held in front of Jinjira BNP office in Keraniganj.

‘Still there is time, dissolve parliament, resign after forming a caretaker government. We want a fair election,’ he said.

The rally is one of BNP’s 15-day progamme the party announced on Monday as part of their ongoing one point-movement demanding resignation of the government

‘AL is afraid of quitting power, I can assure you (AL) that we won’t harm you. We will not do anything (if you quit power),’ said the BNP senior leader.

Urging the Dhaka district unit BNP men to get ready, Abbas said ‘It is not the time to sit idle at home. People will give a befitting reply to Awami League through exercising their franchise in the next general election.’

The people of the country are struggling amid price hike of essentials and oppression but in the next general election people will give a befitting reply to the illegal government through vote, said the BNP leader.
