Torturing wife: Charges framed against cricketer Al-Amin

Sports desk, Mar 05: A Special Court in Dhaka has framed charges in a case filed against cricketer Al-Amin Hossain for torturing his wife Ishrat Jahan for dowry and throwing her out of home.

Judge Mafroja Pervin of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 on Sunday framed the charges as Al-Amin pleaded not guilty.

The court also set April 9 to start recording the depositions of the witnesses.

Ishrat filed the case against Al-Amin on September 2, 2022, with Mirpur Model Police Station, and investigation officer Inspector Sohel Rana on February 2, 2023, filed charge-sheet against him.

According to the case documents, Al-Amin and Ishrat Jahan got married on December 26, 2012, and they became parents of two children. Al-Amin on regular occasions, used to beat his wife for Taka 20 lakh as dowry. He threw her out of home on couple of times as Ishrat’s father failed to manage the money.

But Al-Amin allegedly kept on torturing her. Finally on August 25, 2022, Al-Amin started punching and kicking her indiscriminately and threatened to divorce her and file fake case against her. Ishrat’s uncle took her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment.
