DU suspends 3 students over snatching

Dhaka, Feb 15: The Dhaka University authorities have suspended three students arrested over a snatching incident on the campus.

The action was taken against them on the allegation of tarnishing the image of the university, misconduct and engaging in activities against discipline.

The suspended students are Fazle Navid Anan, of the Theatre and Performance Studies department, Md Rahat Rahman of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department, and Sadik Ahmed of the Social Welfare and Research Institute.

They are among 21 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League who were expelled by the organization on February 12 for violating disciplines and involving themselves in offenses.

The authorities also issued a show-cause notice asking the suspended students to explain why they will not be permanently expelled from the university for the offenses.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman approved the suspension order on Tuesday, a press release said today.
