DRU new president Nomani, secretary Shohel

Dhaka, Nov 30: The Dhaka Reporters Unity has elected Mursalin Nomani and Mainul Hasan Shohel as its president and general secretary respectively.

Nomani bagged 635 votes while his near rival Kabir Ahmed got 543 and Sohel secured 422 votes while his nearest contender Mohiuddin got 383.

Besides, Dipu Sarwar became vice-president, Moinul Ahsan joint secretary, Shakhawat Hossain Sumon finance secretary, Saiful Islam organizing secretary, Kawser Azam office secretary, Moriom Moni (Sejuti) women affairs secretary, Kamal Uddin Sumon publicity and publication secretary, Tofazzal Hossain Rubel information technology and training secretary, and Mahbubur Rahman sports secretary of the Dhaka-based reporters’ organization.

The election commission on Wednesday evening announced the results of the voting that was held from 9 am to 5 pm.
