DUCSU election schedule announced, voting March 11

Dhaka, Feb 11: The complete schedule for the elections to Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) was announced on Monday morning.The nomination distribution will begin from February 19 that will continue till February 25. The date of the nomination form submission is February 26.

Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr SM Mahfuzur Rahman announced the schedule at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of the university at 10:30 am.

He said the candidates can collect nomination forms from their respective halls.

Earlier on January 23, DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Aktaruzzaman fixed March 11 as the polls date of DUCSU.

DUCSU elections was held 36 times after its inception during the 1922-1923 sessions. But, the student parliament election came to a stop after the fall of HM Ershad’s dictatorship in 1990.

DUCSU was formed in 1924 after the establishment of Dhaka University in 1921, and its first vice-president was nominated in the 1924-25 academic session.

The latest DUCSU elections were held in 1990. It was the sixth election after the independence of Bangladesh.
