Government is the torchbearer of corruption, says BNP’s Mirza Fakhrul

Dhaka, Feb 19: The incumbent government is the torchbearer for corruption, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

“Corruption has spread in every sector like cancer,” he said while speaking at a program on Saturday.

Fakhrul was commenting on an Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) official, who was recently fired after coming into the spotlight by investigating corruption and irregularities.

“He was sacked because the people he targeted filed a complaint against him,” he said before adding that he was fired without any investigation into the matter.

Alleging that the people were being deprived of their voting rights, he said: “Formation of an Election Commission is underway. We have said time and again that there is no point to an EC if there is no impartial polls-time government.”

“The search committee for the election commission is nothing but a ruse to fool people and stage another farcical election like the 2018-19 to establish their one-party-rule,” he claimed.
