Dhaka, Feb 06: Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Sunday said that it is required to take approval from two city corporations besides Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) to construct any kind of building in the capital.

“Permission will have to be taken from city corporation apart from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha to build all kinds of infrastructure, including ministry, division, office, association, and private company or houses,” he said.

The minister made the disclosure after a meeting with the stakeholders at the Secretariat held this afternoon on the waterlogging situation in Dhaka and Chattogram cities.

Mentioning that there are many bridges in Dhaka city that have no navigation facilities, he said the government has decided to demolish such bridges and construct new ones with navigation facilities.

Mentioning canal and water body grabbing as one of the reasons behind waterlogging in Dhaka, he said the ones are being renovated and dispossessed and illegal establishments being evicted as these were handed over to two city corporations from WASA.

“I hope the waterlogging will not take an extreme turn in the capital this year,” he said.
