Journalist Habibur killed in Hatirjheel road accident; PM mourns

Dhaka, Jan 19: Md Habibur Rahman, 40, senior reporter of Daily Shomoyer Alo, was killed as he lost control of his motorcycle in the capital’s Hatirjheel around 2:30am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the senior reporter of the Bengali daily Somoyer Alo and former organising secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) Habibur Rahman Habib.

In a message of condolence, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Habibur, also former organizing secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity, was sent to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 3am.

Mehedi Hasan, the man who rushed Habibur to the DMCH, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy.
