Student killed in Rampura: Two arrested including bus driver


Dhaka, Nov 30: A student was killed in a bus crash in Rampura on Monday night and several buses were set on fire by the angry mob.

Two people, including a bus driver, have been arrested in connection with the death of SSC examinee Durjoy in a bus crash in the capital. Durjoy was killed on Monday (November 29) at around 10 pm in a bus crash of Anabil Paribahan on Rampura DIT Road. Police have confirmed this information. In one week, 5 people lost their lives in a road accident in Dhaka. Two of them are students.

The deceased was identified as Mainuddin Islam Durjoy, an SSC candidate of local Ekramunnesa school.

Witnesses said the bus crushed Mainuddin while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot. Immediately after the accident, innumerable people gathered at the spot. They block the road. At the same time, 6 buses were set on fire by the agitated crowd.

Fire service and police are working on the spot to normalize the situation. Police say the agitated crowd also threw brick-bats after the incident.

Rampura Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said one person was killed on the spot in the bus crash. Excited people blocked the road. They set the bus on fire. Two units of the fire service are working to extinguish it.
