One child, five women and two men are among the deceased.
Pannat, Deputy Director of Mymensingh Fire Service, confirmed the incident to journalists.
According to source, a microbus with 14 passengers on board was going to Nalitabari in Sherpur from Bhaluka in Mymensingh. The vehicle lost its control and plunged into a roadside pond when it reached Bashati area in Phulpur around 7am.
Five among the deceased were women, two were men and another was a child. The microbus plunged into the pond with a total of 14 passengers onboard.
On information, fire service rushed to the spot and recovered five bodies from the spot. Two people were also recovered alive.
OC Imarat said the driver of the microbus, which was on its way to Sherpur, lost control over the steering and the vehicle fell into a roadside pond, when the eight were killed on the spot.
