Some INGOs conspiring over Rohingya issue: Quader

Dhaka, August 28: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday alleged that some international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) are hatching conspiracies in favour Myanmar over the Rohingya issue.“Various games are being played with Rohingyas. Some INGOs are hatching conspiracies and helping Myanmar,” he said while speaking at a discussion at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, UNB reports.

Quader, also Awami League (AL) general secretary, said the international NGOs include some Pakistani ones. “They want to create problems for Bangladesh in every step,” he said.

Alleging that BNP is using the Rohingya issue as a political tool, he said, “Those who can’t do normal politics and failed to muster public opinion due to its negative politics have now resorted to the path of conspiracy.”

Talking about the dengue menace, the minister said only seasonal initiatives are not enough to prevent the dengue outbreak but preparations should continue throughout the year. “There’s no reason to think the dengue situation has fully been controlled. I’ll ask the Health Minister to remain prepared all the year round to prevent it.”

Mentioning that the mosquito-borne disease cannot be controlled by spraying only anti-mosquito medicines, he said the biggest medicine is public awareness.

Quader also expressed the hope that doctors will be successful in the fight against dengue.
