Special meeting to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth centenary held


Dhaka, May 30: A special meeting of ‘National Implementation Committee for Celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ with all convenors and secretary generals of sub-committees was held on Thursday at the International Mother Language Institute.“The committee had an elaborate discussion on the celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of the architect of independent Bangladesh”, said Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator, national implementation committee.

The celebration will begin on March 17 in 2020 and will continue till March 17 in 2021, he added.

Naser said the meeting also discussed on creating website, logo, theme song and other work plans regarding the anniversary. The committee stressed promoting Bangabandhu’s iconic leadership, life struggles and historic speech internationally, Kamal Chowdhury said.

National Implementation Committee Chairman National Professor Rafiqul Islam presided over the meeting.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit, Prime Minister’s International Affairs Advisor Dr Gowher Rizvi, Energy Advisor Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi and Economic Advisor Dr Mashiur Rahman, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Affairs Division Zunaied Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ministry KM Khalid and Information Secretary Abdul Malek, among others, were present in the meeting.
