CID arrests ex-footballer Kaiser Hamid on charges of fraudulence


Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested former national footballer Kaiser Hamid on Sunday night around 9pm, after an arrest warrant was issued against him on charges of embezzlement of funds.The celebrated former footballer Kaiser Hamid is currently standing committee member of Zaker Party.

Sharmin Jahan, CID’s additional superintendent, said Kaiser was arrested in Elephant Road area in the evening.

She said the former captain of Bangladesh football team had formed a multi-level-marketing company named New Way Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and took money from a number of people for the organisation.

The organisation was closed down several years back, and people who had invested money in it sued Kaiser, she added.

The case was filed by several people who had invested their money in Kaiser’s company, New Way Multipurpose Cooperative Society.

But they never got any return for their investment, which was when they had filed a case.

Kaiser Hamid is the son of Bangladesh’s chess Queen Rani Hamid.
