Dhaka, Jan 19: Police produced Nazma, one of the accused of sensational five-murder case of Narayanganj, before the N’ganj court on Tuesday and the court granted 5-day remand after the hearing.
Ashiq Imam, Judge of Narayanganj senior judicial magistrate court, passed the order.
Earlier, the investigation officer of the case, also the officer-in-charge (OC) of the district Detective Branch, Mamunur Rashid produced her before the court and sought 7-day remand.
Earlier, Detectives detained a woman from Shariatpur in connection with the killing five members of a family at Baburail in Narayanganj city on Saturday night.
The arrestee is Nazma Begum, who is around 50 years old.
The Narayanganj Detective Branch (DB) Abul Khayer said a team of DB arrested Nazma from Shariatpur in the early hours of Tuesday.
Earlier on Sunday, police arrested Mahfuz, nephew of the complainant, and showed him arrested in the case.
A Narayanganj court on Monday granted seven-day police custody for Mahfuz in the murder case when officer-in-charge of DB Mamunur Rashid Mondal, also investigation officer of the case, produced Mahfuz before the court seeking 10-day custody for questioning.
On the same day, the DB was entrusted with investigating the case.
The five members of the family were killed by unidentified miscreants at Baburail on Saturday night.
The deceased were indentified as, Taslima Begum, wife of Shafiqul Islam, a private car driver in Dhaka, their children Sumaiya, 5, Shantu, 10, Taslima’s brother Morshedul, , and Lamia, who was married to Shafiqul’s brother Sharif.
Shafiqul Islam, husband of deceased Taslima Begum, filed the case against unidentified miscreants with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station on Sunday morning.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Department also collected evidence from the spot.
