‘WB to seek apology to PM Hasina’: Law Minister

Dhaka, February 12: Law, justice and parliamentary affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday asked the World Bank (WB) to seek apology to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian for raising corruption allegation in Padma Bridge Project.
“The world Bank has to seek apology to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian as they (WB) raised allegation of corruption in Padma Bridge Project,” he said while addressing the Parliament.
He also claimed that the WB tarnished the image of the PM by bringing corruption allegations in the project.
A Canadian court dismissed allegations of graft against officials of SNC-Lavalin Group in Canada – binning any practicality of the “corruption attempt” in the Padma bridge project.
Earlier, a number of government high-ups in Bangladesh were charged and later acquitted by a Bangladesh court and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the “graft attempt” case relating to the bridge project.
