International desk, June 19: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and World Bank Group president Jim Yong Kim are likely to be here on a two-day visit on June 30 mainly to see the Rohingya situation in Cox’s Bazar district.They will also hold meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and finance minister AMA Muhith during visit.
Besides, they will visit Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar too, UNDP Bangladesh office confirmed the visit.
Foreign ministry sources, however, said such visit is in discussion but could not give any specific date yet.
The World Bank may provide Bangladesh with a grant worth around $200 million to help tackle the on-going Rohingya crisis, sources said.
Some 700,000 Rohingya crossed the Bangladesh border from Myanmar’s Rakhine state since 25 August last year.
