Two more public varsities to be set up in Jamalpur, Netrokona


Dhaka, January 30: The government is going to set up two more public universities in the country.
The new universities—Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University and Sheikh Hasina University—will be set up at Melandah in Jamalpur district and Netrokona district respectively.
The regular cabinet meeting on Monday gave approval the draft act of the universities. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam explained the decision of the meeting while talking to reporters.
He told the reporters that the Fisheries College of Jamalpur will be acquired for Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University.
Besides, Sheikh Hasina University would be newly set up one, he said.
At present, there are a total of 38 public and 95 private universities in Bangladesh.
