Dhaka, May 17: Rape evidences of college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu found by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in its laboratory test.

As per DNA test Tonu was raped before killing.

The evidences were found almost two months after the killing of the 19-year-old college student in Comilla.

Nazmul Karim Khan, superintendent of CID in Comilla-Noakhali Division confirmed the news on Monday night.

Samples including pieces of Tonu`s clothes and her four teeth were tested at the CID laboratory in Dhaka.

He said, “We have received the DNA report and proves that Tonu was raped before killing.”

“Examining Tonu`s clothes, we have found four DNA samples of four separate persons,” he said.

“Of the four DNA samples, three are spermatozoa of three separate males,” he added.

“The remaining one matches with Tonu`s teeth.”

The latest findings expose the flaws in the inquest and first autopsy reports which did not find any evidence of rape.

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a second-year student of history department of Comilla Victoria College and a member of Comilla Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.

Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house.

She was then rushed to the Combined Military Hospital where on duty physicians declared her dead.
