Comilla, Mar 30: Father of murdered college student Sohagi Jahan Tanu on Wednesday sought the prime minister’s intervention in helping ‘a fair probe’ into the case.

Police exhumed Tanu’s body from a graveyard at Mirzapur village in Comilla on Wednesday noon following a court order for a fresh autopsy.

She was found dead within few yards of her house at Comilla Cantonment on March 20.

Police said evidence from the spot of the crime pointed to possible rape.

Her father Yaar Hossain, an office assistant at the cantonment, was in the graveyard when Tanu’s body was exhumed.

“I want justice for my daughter. I seek intervention from the honourable prime minister to ensure fair investigation,” he told reporters.

He said he was disappointed that no one was arrested so far but he also said he did not want police to harass innocents over the crime.

When asked if he was being pressurised by authorities, he said, “There is no pressure. I’m devastated because I lost my daughter. My health is not good either, so I don’t go out.”

Rapid Action Battalion has questioned Tanu’s parents, two brothers and cousin in Comilla.
