Dhaka, July 19: Awami League general secretary and public administration minister Syed Ashraful Islam on Tuesday urged the party leaders and activists to be more cautious considering the country’s prevailing situation.

“There is silence in the politics. Here is the fear. Mind it—when there is no movement of leafs of trees—there is fear for storm. So, it is the time to be more alert. I don’t want to explain more—just guess what I want to meant,”  Syed Ashraf made the urge to his fellows while addressing a discussion organized by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad at city’s Diploma Engineers Institution, protesting against the acts of recent terrorism and militancy.

He urged all the party leaders and workers to remain vigilant considering the country’s present situation so that incident of 1975 is not repeated again.

“I don’t want to deliver so many words over the country’s prevailing situation. Please try to understand through my gesture. We could not save the country’s architect Bangabandhu after the War of Liberation. He was killed with his family members brutally. Therefore, we will have to remain vigilant so that the 75’ like heinous incident is not repeated in the country,” he said.

The incident of assassination of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is rare in the world history, he said, adding that he who liberated the country, was killed within the three years later of the Liberation War, which is very pathetic.

There are heroes but betrayers also here, the AL general secretary said. “So, we will have to remain alert and should remain prepare in mind also,” he urged the activists and party leaders.

He also called upon the country’s freedom fighters to remain prepared to save their motherland again from the hands of militants as they did during the War of Liberation in 1971.
