SI Akram killing: 5-sisters allege ex-SP Babul Akhter killed their brother

Jhenidah, February 17:  A police sub-inspector has allegedly been murdered in a planned way. Suspended police super Babul Akhter and his fiance Banani Binte Bashir Bonny were allegedly involved in the plan.
The allegation was raised at a press conference by slain SI Akram Hossain’s five sisters on Friday.
They made the allegation while speaking at the press conference at Jhenidah Press Club on Friday morning.
Bonny is the wife of their only slain brother.
Demanding trial of the killers of their only brother, SI Akram’s sister Jannat Ara Parvin Rini read out a wtitten statement at the press conference.
She said their only brother joined the sub-inspector post in the Police Force in 2001. He married Banani Binte Bashir Bonny, eldest daughter of Bashir Uddin Badsha of village Bhagaban Nagar under Sadar upazila in Jhenidah district on January 13, 2006. A baby-girl was born one and a half years after their wedding.
Rini alleged that sacked SP Babul Akhter and Bonny had a love affair before the marriage. The relation continued even after the marriage. There had been quarrels over it between Akram and Bonny. Several days before the incident, Bonny got into a rented house in Jhenidah leaving her house in Dhaka. On December 28, 2014, SI Akram came under terrorist attack at Barada area when he was coming to Jhenidah from Dhaka by his motorcycle crossing Jamuna Bridge. The terrorists hacked on his head and other parts of the body. Critically injured SI Akram first admitted to Jhenidah and then Faridpur Medical College Hospital. However, 17 days after the attack, SI Akram succumbed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Janaury 13, 2015.
The then Shailakupa Police Station OC Hashem Khan declined to lodge a case at that time. He, however, registered an unnatural death case filed by Bonny claiming that her husband was killed in raod accident.
On Janauary 19, 2015, Rini filed a petition case with a Jhenidah court.
Rini alleged that the then Jhenidah police super Altaf Hossain did not cooperate with them over the case.
She also mentioned that Bonny had claimed at a press conference at Magura Press Club on January 24, 2015 that her husband SI Akram was killed in a road accident. At that time, Babul Akhter’s father former OC Abdul Wadud was present along with her at the press conference.
Five sisters–Jannat Ara Parvin Rini, Rehena Khatun, Ferdous Ara, Shahnaz Parvin Ripa and Shamima Nasreen–demanded a fair investigation into the death of their brother SI Akram at the press conference.
Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of a former SP Babul Akhter, was hacked and shot dead near the Chittagong city’s GEC intersection on June 5 last year.
