Dhaka, April 17: A Dhaka court on Monday placed poet and lyricist Md Shahabuddin Nagri on a five-day remand for interrogating in connection with a murder of one Nurul Islam at Dom-Inno apartment at Elephant Road in the capital.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Wayez Kuruni Khan issued the remand order after police from the city’s New Market Police Station sought 10 days’ remand producing Shahabuddin Nagri before the court on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman of the Crime, Information and Prosecution Division of the DMP confirmed it to newsbangladesh.com.
Shahabuddin Nagri was arrested early Monday morning from Nikunja area in the capital.
DMP assistant commissioner (media) Suman Kanti Chowdhury said businessman Nurul Islam was found dead inside his bedroom at 170/171 Dom-Inno apartment at Elephant Road under the New Market Police Station on April 13 last.
On the following day, Nurul Islam’s sister Shahana Rahman Kajal filed a murder case against several unidentified persons along with the victim’s wife and Shahabuddin Nagri with the New Market Police Station.
In the case, Shahabuddin Nagri was made as the accused No. 2.
He was arrested in connection with the case, said Suman Kanti Chowdhury.
