Dhaka, April 23: BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday claimed that a secret deal between the government and the Election Commission (EC) has been signed to help the ruling party candidates win in the Union Parishad (UP) elections.

“Massive irregularities and violent incidents have taken place in the third phase of UP elections like the previous two phases. It seems that there might be secret deal with the EC officials to win the ruling party candidates,” he said while addressing a press conference at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan.

Occupying polling centers by ruling party men, ousting the BNP agents of the polling centers and many more irregularities were the common scene during the voting periods, he added.

The press conference was, among others, attended by BNP joint secretaries Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Khairul Kabir Khokon, and mass education affairs secretary Advocate Sanaullah Miah.
