Saudis tapping officials at Riyadh embassy to pursue increased military cooperat


Riyadh, March 5: Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq on Sunday met with newly-appointed assistant defence minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al-Ayesh to discuss increasing military cooperation between two countries.During the meeting they discussed the work opportunities for the skilled members of the Bangladesh boys in the Proteas in different sectors of KSA’s military.

The meeting also discussed the merits of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for increasing military cooperation and joint military exercises between the two countries.

The KSA chief of staff  General Fayyad bin Hamed al-Ruwayli, Bangladesh Ambassador to Riyadh,  Golam Moshi, Defense Attaché in Bangladesh mission in Riyadh Brigadier General Mohammad Shah Alam Chowdhury, and high officials of the two countries were present at the meeting.

Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al-Ayesh requested his counterpart for assistance in development of KSA military infrastructures.  Such assistance does not necessarily have to be financial.

They also discussed Bangladesh eventually joining the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), a KSA-led Islamic Military Alliance.

General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq received honorary King Abdulaziz medal from the assistant defence minister for his contributions to developing the military relations between Bangladeshi armed forces and KSA arm forces during the meeting.

Bangladesh Army chief also met Royal Saudi Land Force Commander Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah.

Later, Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq visited IMCTC center in Riyadh.
