Ruling party MP Badi jailed for three years in a corruption case

Dhaka, November 02: Abdur Rahman Badi, a lawmaker in Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency, has been jailed for three years in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka’s Third Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamaddar passed the order on Wednesday morning.

The court also fined him Tk 10 lakh, and he will have to suffer in jail for another six months in case of failure to pay the fine.badi-mp

Earlier on October 19, the court fixed November 2 for delivering verdict in the case after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.

On September 9, 2015, a Dhaka court framed charges against Bodi in the case.

The ACC filed the case against the ruling party MP from the Cox`s Bazar-4 constituency for illegally acquiring wealth.

According to the case statement, Badi acquired about Tk 10 crore 86 lakh and 81 thousand from unidentified sources.
