RU teacher’s killers to be punished soon, relatives behind monk killing in Bandarban: Home Minister


Rajshahi, May 14: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Saturday said that the killers involved in Rajshahi University professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee will be brought to justice soon.

Besides, relatives involved behind the killing of 70-year-old Mawng Shoi Wuu in Bandarban, he said.

The Minister made the assertion while talking to reporters after a programme held at Rajshahi University.

He said, “We are almost close to the investigation over the RU teacher murder.”

“Visible patrolling will be increased in Rajshahi University, so that teachers can feel security in the campus,” he said.

The home minister also said, “Keep continuing educational activities, leaving movement over Rezaul Karim Siddiquee murder issue.”

Terming the killing of monk in Bandraban as an isolated incident, the home minister said while replying to a query regarding the killing and said adding, “monk’s relatives might be involved behind the killing.”

Among others, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin and others attended the programme.

RU Teachers` Association President, Dr Md Shahidullah presided over the programme.
