Gazipur, June 11: The death row war criminal convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali will file review petition against the Supreme Court (SC) verdict which uphold the death penalty rejecting appeal given by International Crimes Tribunal.
“The copy of the full verdict of the Supreme Court was published on June 6. We came here to know about his (Mir Quasem Ali) opinion over review petition. He directed us to file review petition,” Mir Quasem Ali`s lawyer Motiur Rahman Akon made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after meeting with Quasem Ali at Kashimpur Central Jail-2 on Saturday noon in Gazipur.
Earlier, a 5-member team of lawyers, including the convict’s son Mir Ahmed Bin Quasem, went to the jail at about 11:00am to meet war criminal Mir Quasem Ali.
Central jail part-2 jail super Prosanto Kumar Banik said Mir Ahmed Bin Quasem with four lawyers entered into the jail around 12:00pm. They stayed inside the jail for 40 minutes.
