RAB intelligence chief Col Azad dies

Dhaka, March 31: Rapid Action Battalion intelligence chief Lieutenant Colonel Abul Kalam Azad died who was wounded in an explosion during an anti-militant drive at Sylhet militant den (Inna Lillahe . . .Rajiun).

He breathed his last around 12:05am Friday at Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Earlier, he was brought back from Singapore Mount Elisabeth Hospital on life support and was undergoing treatment at CMH.

RAB legal and media director Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed the news.

Abul Kalam Azad was wounded critically during the anti-militant drive at Shibbari area under South Surma in Sylhet and on March 26 evening he was sent to Singapore for further treatment.

RAB intelligence chief Lieutenant Colonel Abul Kalam Azad and deputy director Major Azad among 42 persons were injured and six others were killed including two police officer in two different explosion during the anti-militant drive at Shibbari on March 25.
