Dhaka, May 12: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four persons including a regional commander of the militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the capital city Dhaka.
Assistant director of RAB legal media wing Mizanur Rahman said, RAB has detained JMB Dhaka district chief Abdul Baten alias Khairul Islam alias Mamunul Haque and three of his accomplices during separate raids at Dhaka’s Khilgaon and Fakirarpul areas on Wednesday night.
RAB also recovered a weapon, ammunitions, petrol bomb, explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED) and jihadi literature from their possession, he added.
“We suspect the two, arrested from Fakirarpul arrived Dhaka on Wednesday night from Chittagong. The others also travelled to Dhaka. It seems that they were poised for a terror attack,” he said.
No other details were available, but RAB said it will hold a media briefing over the raid later on Thursday.
