Dhaka, December 16: President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have paid homage to the millions of martyrs on Victory Day today at the National Mausoleum in Savar on Saturday morning.The president and PM placed floral wreath around 6:35 am Saturday at the monument.
After placing the wreath, they stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memories of the martyrs of the Great War of Liberation of 1971.
A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force presented state salute on the occasion when bugles played the last post.
After that, Speaker of the parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid tribute to the martyrs.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina as the president of Awami League also paid homage.
As the president and prime minister left the premises, the monument were left open for the general people.
