Police recovered bodies of mother, daughter in Chittagong

Chittagong, April 19: Chittagong police on Tuesday recovered bodies of a mother and her 5-year old daughter at their residence in Boalkhali areas.

The deceased were identified as Sheli Shil (36) and her daughter Antara Shil (5).

Police said both the bodies of Shelly Shil were found hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom while daughter Antara Shil was found dead on the bed.

On information, police recovered the bodies on Tuesday noon from their residence in Dakkhin Conjury Bottola area of Saroatoli union.

Shelly was married to Asim Shil, who works as an assistant to a lawyer in Chittagong. The couple has another 8-month-old child.

Initial investigations suggest that the child was strangled to death, Boalkhali police OC Md Salauddin Chowdhury said.

Quoting family members, local journalists said that Shelly locked herself in the room on Monday following an altercation with her husband.

The mother and her two children remained in the room over the night.

After hearing the 8-month-old crying in the morning, Shelly’s mother-in-law Sabita Shil managed to enter the room, only to find her daughter-in-law and 5-year-old granddaughter dead.
