‘Police not above law’, says IGP


Sylhet, Feb 6: Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Haque on Saturday said that police are not above of law.

“Police department will not be responsible if any individual of the department commits crime. The police who commit crimes must be punished if he is found guilty,” IGP said while speaking at the Role of administration for expatriates` rights` organised by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) in Sylhet on Saturday.

He said many of the police members who were found guilty have faced punishment for committing crimes.

The police chief said help desk has been set up for expatriates. The activities of the desk is being surveillance from police headquarters.
