Police arrested 3 ‘Neo JMB’ men in C’nawabganj raids


Chapainawabganj, May 24: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members held four people, including three suspected militants of ‘Neo JMB’, and recovered gunpowder, firearms and ammunition in drives at separate places in the district early on Wednesday.

The suspected militants are Jahangir Alam, son of Abdul Kuddus, and Abdus Shakur alias Shukurdi, son of Mafiz Uddin, hailing from Balugram, and Saiful Islam, son Tugu Morol of Chwakpustom, in Gomostapur upazila.

Among them, Abdus Shakur used to provide firearms training, he said. They were arrested in Bazarpara of Gamostapur upazila around 4:30am, he added.

On information provided by “detained militants”, RAB-5 raided the four houses in Nachol and Gamostapur upazilas of the district.

In the raids, three kilogrammes of gunpowder, four pistols, one toy pistol, one magazine and 13 bullets were recovered.
