PM urges all to work to continue ongoing progress, she exchanges Eid greetings

Dhaka, September 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday urged all to work with dedication and sacrifice so that the country can continue its ongoing progress and stand midst world community with dignity.“Bangladesh is our beloved motherland. So everybody should work sincerely with devotion so that our motherland can continue its journey towards progress and stand in the world community with dignity,” she said, reports BSS.

The Prime Minister was talking to media after exchanging greetings with party leaders and workers and cross section of people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at her official residence Gonobhabn here today.

The prime minister said the Eid-ul-Azha is a magnificent system of sacrifice for the welfare of the mankind. It’s the duty of every human being to remain ready for any sacrifice for mankind, she said, adding that Eid-ul-Azha teaches us for the sacrifice.

Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh is progressing fast economically. We want to keep up the progress. I want to see that Bangladesh will live in the world as a dignified nation keeping its head high which was the main essence of the independence.”

Extending her greetings to the countrymen and hajj pilgrims, the Prime Minister said, “This country is ours. So we have to build up the country as a prosperous one as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

“Bangladesh is moving ahead economically and it will continue its progress Inshalla,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina said her government has successfully tackled the recent flood. The government has taken all measures for the affected people including providing them with new homes. Not a single man will remain in Bangladesh without home, she said.

She said Father of the Nation wanted to fulfil the basic rights of the people. After coming to power, Awami League is making constant efforts to materialize the dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The countrymen are enjoying the benefit of the successes of the government, she added.

The Prime Minister said now Bangladesh is a role model of development with its economic growth of over 7.24 percent and increased per capital income. Country’s poverty rate reduced to 22 percent and it will further come down.

“By 2021, we will be able to make Bangladesh a hunger and poverty free nation and it’s our goal,” Sheikh Hasina said.

The Prime Minister reiterated her call to protect the society from militancy and urged the guardians, teachers, imams and priests of all religious organizations and cross section of people to remain careful so that the youngsters are not derailed and involve with any such social menace.

Expressing her high optimism to build Bangladesh as a developed and peaceful country in South Asia by 2021, Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh is going ahead and Inshalla it will go ahead in the way to prosperity.”

Bangabandhu’s youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana, PM’s daughter Saima Hossain, Awami League leaders Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Faruk Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Dr Dipu Moni, Abdus Sobhan Golap, Asim KUmar Ukil, Sujit Roy Nandi and Biplob Barua were present, among others, on the occasion.

Later, the Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings with the judges of the Supreme Court and head of diplomatic missions of different countries in Bangladesh.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court and Ambassadors and High Commissioners of different countries joined the function.
