PM leaves Dhaka for Jakarta


Dhaka, March 6: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning left Dhaka for Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, on a three-day official visit to attend the Leaders’ Summit in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

A total of 21 countries surrounding Indian Ocean are the members of IORA.

PM is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widoo and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying PM and her entourage took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Jakarta at 8:55 am (BST) and is expected to reach Jakarta at 3:00 pm (local time).

Female Empowerment and Children Protection Minister Yohana Susana and Bangladesh Ambassador to Indonesia Major General Azmal Kabir will receive the Prime Minister at the airport.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, and a 60-member business delegation, headed by FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmed, are accompanying Sheikh Hasina.

Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to depart Jakarta on Wednesday.
