Meanwhile, the public university teachers on Sunday submitted two specific proposals to the education ministry to realise their demands, what they say, has been relegated in the eighth national pay scale.
As per the proposal one, the leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) said that they wanted restoration of the facilities what was incorporated in the seventh national pay scale.
About the second proposal, they said that if the selection grade and time scale is not restored, the government has to keep such provisions so that the teachers can go to Grade-3 to Grade-1 in the new pay scale like the previous scale and a certain percentage of professors will get the facilities like the senior secretary.
Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, secretary general of the FBUTA said this to the journalists at the Dhaka University Club premises yesterday.
“We have prepared two specific proposals to submit to the government. We will submit it today. We want all facilities retained like the previous pay scale. We want an honourable solution of the problem,” he said.
Asked about the details of the proposals, Kamal, however, did not say in detail rather said that all things will be disclosed later.
But he said, “We would submit the proposals containing the specific process how to implement it.”
However, it has been learnt that as per the proposal, the Federation proposed that the public university teachers would go to the Grade-2 from Grade-3 after a period of 20 years of service including academic feat and publications.
Then after one year the teachers will get the Grade-1 as per the eighth national pay scale. And for the Grade of senior secretary, they have proposed that five percent teachers will avail the facility.
The teachers submitted the specific proposals as per the requirement of the education ministry.
Over the last eight months the teachers under the banner of the FBUTA staged different programmes to realise their demands but when they found no concrete reply from the government, they started complete shutdown of universities since January 11.
