Dhaka, October 08: Awami League (AL) general secretary and bridges minister, Obaidul Quader, has said that no one involved in misdeeds will be spared.Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is firm and that is why both organisational and administrative actions were taken against perpetrators involved in the killing of Buet student Abrar Fahad.
The leader is firm in her stance and that is why around nine people have been arrested in connection with the killing, Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League told reporters at the AL President’s office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
“Not only have nine people been arrested, around 11 people have been expelled from Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on instructions from high-level,’’ Quader added.
The PM is very strict in dealing with criminals and corrupt people, irrespective of party affiliation, steps are being taken against unethical elements, he added.
According to Quader, “Many people enter a ruling party and, therefore, we need to be alert.”
Commenting on the killing of a BUET student, allegedly by Chhatra League members, he said: “no one committing a crime using the party’s name will be spared.”
Talking on the issue of banning Jamaat, he said: “Jamaat is not in the Election Commission list and the issue of outlawing Jamaat is currently at court and the law will decide.”
Alluding to BNP’s huge loss in Rangpur, he commented: “BNP is trying to stay relevant in politics through bluster.”
