No rape evidence found in Tonu’s first autopsy report

Comilla, April 4: The Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital did not find any evidence of rape and a specific cause of death in the first autopsy of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu.

Kamoda Proshad Shaha, chief of the forensic department of the hospital, confirmed the matter after receiving the postmortem report on Monday.

“The doctor who performed the first autopsy didn’t find any evidence of rape on Tonu’s body,” he said

“Any specific cause of her death could not also be detected in the autopsy,” he said, adding that the forensic doctors submitted the autopsy report to the forensic department on Monday.

The postmortem report will be handed over to the investigation officer of the case for the next course of actions, he added.

On March 20 in the night, the body of Tonu, an undergraduate student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College, was recovered from Moinamoti area.

Her father Yar Hossain, an office assistant of Comilla Cantonment Board, filed a murder case with Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station the next day.
