Dhaka, November 14: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday announced the schedule of the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls slated on December 22.
The chief election commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the schedule at the media centre of the EC secretariat in the city.
The last date for submission of nomination is November 24 while the date for scrutinise the nominations would be on November 26 and 27. The last date of withdrawal of nominations would be on December 4, the CEC said.
This would be the second polls in the NCC but the election this time would be held under party banner.
EC’s deputy secretary Nuruzzaman Talukder would act as the returning officer of the NCC polls.
The NCC election would be held under 27 general posts and nine reserved seats for women.
The total voters are likely to be 4,79,392. Of them, 2,41,514 are male voters and 2,37,878 female voters.
Under the current EC, the NCC election is being held. The tenure of the present EC would be ended in February and the Comilla City Corporation polls might be held under them before concluding their tenure.
