Nazrul’s 41st death anniversary being observed


Dhaka, August 27: The 41st death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed in the country on Sunday with a call to follow his ideals to maintain communal harmony in the society.

Dhaka University as well as different social and cultural organizations chalked out different programmes to mark the occasion.

Paying floral wreaths at the mazar of the poet, offering fateha there, discussion meetings and cultural functions were among the programmes.

State-run Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television and private TV channels and radio stations aired different programmes including songs and drama on Nazrul.

The programme of the day began in the morning through placing floral wreaths at the mazar of Nazrul beside the central mosque of Dhaka University.

Various organizations including Awami League, ministry of cultural affairs, Dhaka University, different halls of the Dhaka University, National Museum, Nazrul Institute, Bangla Academy, Shilpakala Academy and Swechchasebak League paid floral wreaths at the grave of the poet.
