Bandarban, May 12: Mortar shells were thrown targeting a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp at Baro Madak under Thanchi upazila in Bandarban district near Myanmar border on Wednesday night.
In response to the counter attacks, BGB also threw mortar shells immediately after the incident and the border areas remains tense.
Southeast region commander of BGB, Brigadier General Habibul Karim said, “We have noticed strongly to Myanmar authority and have strengthened border security.”
After this incident, BGB have increased their members in all border camps and they have been put on alert.
BGB have recently built a new camp named Bulpara BGB camp at Sanggu reserve area near Myanmar border for ensuring safety measures of the country.
BGB have guessed the mortar shells were thrown from Myanmar army because Myanmar army have recently increased their persons and they conducted several operations for arresting Arakan separatist group members.
