Dhaka, September 28: Mosaddek Hossain, a cricketer of Bangladesh, lifted Bangladesh’s score to a battling in his debut match scored a unbeaten run-a-ball 45 his team to 208 in the second of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against touring Afghanistan in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Bangladesh were all out in 49.2 overs scoring 208 runs after Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai won the toss and chose to field first at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar opened batting for Bangladesh. They scored 45 runs in the opening partnership where Tamim`s contribution was 20.
Tamim was caught by Dawlat Zadran when he tried to play a shortish ball of Afghan pacer Mirwais Ashraf in the 11th over. In his next over, Mirwais made Soumya to depart in the same fashion. The Bangladesh opener also scored 20 runs.
From there, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur kept delivering solid batting and added 61 runs in the third wicket partnership.
Mahmudullah was bowled by Naveen-ul-Haq in the 25th over scoring 25 runs.
Mushfiqur Rahim could not able to go far and fell in two overs later. He scored 38 off 51 balls hitting 4 boundaries.
Afghan spinner Mohammad Nabi made Shakib Al Hasan (17) LBW in the last delivery of 32nd overs. Bangladesh lost fifth wicket for 138.
Sabbir Rahman (4) was also LBW in the very next delivery bowled by Rashid Khan. Nabi got Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza (2) in the following over.
Debutant Mosaddek Hossain who came in batting at no. 7 tried to stretch Bangladesh total with Taijul Islam. They added 24 runs in the 8th wicket partnership. But Rashid Khan made Taijul (10) and Taskin Ahmed (0) LBW in two consecutive deliveries of 43rd over as Bangladesh lost ninth wicket for 165.
From there, Mosaddek and Rubel Hossain added 43 runs off 40 balls in the last wicket partnership to lift the score past 200.
Rubel was run out scoring 10 runs just before 4 balls were left of the innings. However, Mosaddek was unbeaten on 45. He played 45 balls and smashed 4 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries.
