Kishoreganj, July 8: Police on Friday said that one of the Sholakia attackers, killed during the gun battle with policemen, was identified as Abir Rahman, a missing student of North South University (NSU).
Abir a BBA student,son of one Sirajul Islam of Devidwar upazila of Comilla had been missing for the past eight months.
Kishoreganj SP Anwar Hossain Khan on Friday afternoon told media Abir Rahman, a BBA final-year student of the NSU, had been missing since March.
The police officer also said Abir was a resident of Bashundhara Residential area of the capital.
He passed his A’ Levels from Bangladesh International Tutorial in 2010 and was pursuing BBA at NSU.
He was disconnected from his family for couple of months, the sources added.
It was learnt that acquaintances identified Abir from photos and videos released in the media after the attack that killed two policemen and injured six others.
During the attack, seven or eight young men, all in their 20s, threw bombs at the police checkpoint that was searching people coming into the prayer congregation, and then immediately hacked at the policemen with sharp weapons.
On Thursday, at least four people, including a woman and two policemen, were killed in the blast near the country’s largest Eid congregation at Sholakia.
Police said the blast also left 13 others, including seven policemen, injured.
