Dhaka, September 19: A Dhaka court has placed Juba League leader Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan on a seven-day remand in two cases filed against him with Gulshan police station.He was put on a four-day remand in the arms case while a three-day in anti-drug case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistarte Begum Mahmuda passed the order on Thursday night.
Gulshan Police Station inspector Aminul Islam, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court and sought a 14-day remand in the two case.
Earlier, three cases were filed against Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of Dhaka South city unit of Jubo League on Thursday afternoon in connection with the recovery of illegal firearms and drugs from his possession.
Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) Sudip Kumar Chatterjee said three cases—one under the Arms Act, another under the Narcotics Control Act while another under the Anti-money Laundering Act—were filed with Gulshan police station by Rab.
On Wednesday, Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Khalid, also president of Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club, from Gulshan area for running an illegal casino.
Three firearms, including an unauthorised one along with bullets, and Yaba pills were recovered from his possession.
The arrest came after a Rab mobile court detained 142 people from the casino.
Besides, Tk 24 lakh in cash, foreign liquor and some casino boards were seized from casino.
