Gaibandha, Sunday 26: Arrested former Jatiya Party (JP) lawmaker Col (Retd) Dr Abdul Kader Khan has made confessional statement to a Gaibandha court on Saturday in former Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) constituency’s MP Manzurul Islam Liton murder case.
He was produced before a judicial magistrate court to record his confessional statement at 2:00pm on Saturday.
Police said Kader Khan was produced before the court after he had agreed to make confessional statement in MP Liton murder case on the fourth day of his 10-day remand. Judge Md Zainul Abedin recorded his confessional statement.
Kader Khan was placed on a 10-day remand on February 22 last for questioning in MP Liton murder case. On Saturday, the fourth day of his remand, he was produced before the court putting a helmet on his head and a bullet-proof jacket on his body.
At that time, security was tightened in and around the court premises. Even, none was allowed to enter the police super’s office. No journalist was allowed to enter the court. All the doors of Judge Court Building were closed. As a result, it could not be possible to know what Kader Khan actually told the court in his confessional statement.
In the evening on December 31 last, MP Liton was shot at his Bamondanga house in Sundarganj. Later, he succumbed at Rangpur Medical College Hospital at 7:30pm.
After remaining house arrest for six consecutive days in his residence, Kader Khan was arrested from his Bogra residence on February 21 last by police.
