Dhaka, April 16: A Dhaka court on Saturday granted five-day remand to senior journalist Shafik Rehman in connection with a case filed in 2015 on charge of attempting to abduct and murder Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order after he was produced before the court.
Police sought seven-day remand but the court granted 5-day.
Earlier in the morning, journalist Shafik Rehman was arrested from his residence at Eskaton in the capital.
The detective branch of police arrested him in connection with a case filed in 2015.
Investigation officer of the case DB`s deputy commissioner Md Mashruqur Rahman Khaled said the DB has been investigating a case related to planned abduction and murder of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Shafik Rehman’s involvement was found in it. Because of it, he was arrested.
