Dhaka, May 16: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Monday said that the political party ‘Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’ would be banned in June.
“The budget session will begin from June 1. So, the politics of Jamaat under the name of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will be banned from this session in parliament,” the Minister came up with the disclosure in a discussion held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on the occasion of home coming day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangabandhu Sanskritik Jote organized the programme.
The minister also said that the properties of Jamaat and convicted war criminals will also be forfeited following the world’s example.
“The attaching properties of war criminals is under process,” AKM Mozammel Haque said.
Among others, president of the organization Faruk, vice-president Dany Sidak, general secretary Falguni Hamid were also spoke on the occasion.
On this day in 1981, Sheikh Hasina returned to Bangladesh after spending nearly six years abroad following the killings of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of the family members on August 15, 1975.
