Islami Bank Chairman Arastoo Khan resigns, DU Prof Nazmul made acting Chairman


Dhaka, Apr 18: Islami Bank Chairman Arastoo Khan and Islami Bank Foundation Chairman Syed Manzurul Islam have resigned.Their resignation letters were accepted at a meeting of the bank’s Board of Directors on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University Professor Nazmul Hasan has been made acting chairman of the bank at the meeting.

Arastoo Khan and Syed Manzurul Islam were former secretaries of the government.

“I could not take the load of works,” said Arastoo Khan.

Arastoo, a former additional secretary at the Economic Relations Division, became a director of the bank as the representative of Armada Spinning Mills and became chairman on January 5, 2017.

He was supposed to be chairman for three years, but he resigned after 15 months of his joining.
